Access Services Coordinator

POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Position Title            Access Services Coordinator 

Department              Cullom-Davis Library

Reports to                 Access Services/Education Librarian

Appointment             Full-time; 37.5 hours per week (12 month position)

Open/Close Date      Wednesday, May 15 – Thursday, May 23, 2013

Application Hours    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 1-4 pm; Thursday and Friday, 9-11 am

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate activity at the Laptop/Reserve Desks; work assigned shifts at Information Desk including participation in Sunday staffing rotation; ensure quality customer service; hire, train, schedule and supervise student employees; maintain student files, laptop user agreement forms, manual checkout statistics and Reserves Requests Forms; respond to requests for information and assistance; handle patron problems; process reserve materials received from faculty; handle manual checkout, journal checkout and mending; input materials; communicate with borrowers regarding journals, annual reports, government documents or manually charged materials that need to be returned; attend meetings, training sessions and workshops; perform other related duties as assigned.  In order to meet the needs of the University, the University retains the right to assign duties and requirements to employees as well as determine and change starting times, quitting times and shifts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two years library or related office experience that demonstrates: knowledge of library procedures and office equipment; ability to work independently; exhibit sound/accurate judgment; work with sensitive information and records; effectively communicate in written, telephone and personal communications; show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; computer literate; experience with Window-based applications; good organizational skills; math computation skills; basic cash register operation; ability to handle details and multi-step processes; manage/coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and on deadline.  Ability to type 40 wpm desired.  Ability to participate in Sunday staffing rotation.

MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.  Work is performed in a normal office environment with little exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust.  Working conditions are typically moderately quiet.
