Women's Choir to Present Concert

The Women's Choir, under the direction of Dr. Kerry Walters, will present a concert of music for women’s voices on Friday, December 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker.

The first half of the program will feature arrangements of early American hymn tunes juxtaposed with a setting of the Latin ecclesiastical chant “Ubi caritas” set by Canadian composer Eleanor Daley.  Two pieces from Latin America are also included.  The second half will include music for the season.   Also featured will be Voce Femine, a small group from the larger ensemble. Meng-Chun (Mickey) Chien is pianist for the choir.  Juniors Mercy Perhay (piano) and Molly Wilson (violin) also are included on the program.

The BU Women's Choir was established in 1990 to provide young women at Bradley with the opportunity to sing music especially written for treble voices in an atmosphere of collegial and congenial music making.  The group rehearses twice weekly and is made up of both music majors and those majoring in other fields of study.

Kerry Walters is Associate Professor of Music at Bradley, where she teaches voice, music education, and conducts the Opera Workshop. Meng-Chun Chien serves as staff accompanist for the Department of Music.

Admission is free for students and $5 for the general public.  Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the performance.  For more information call 677-2601.
