Nursing White Coat Ceremony

The Bradley University Department of Nursing will be hosting it's second annual White Coat Ceremony for sophomore nursing students on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 3 p.m. in the Michel Student Center Ballroom on campus. Bradley will have 83 students participating in the ceremony.

Last year, Bradley's nursing program was one of only one hundred in the nation selected by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation to host an Inaugural White Coat Ceremony for nursing students.

White Coat ceremonies have traditionally been hosted by medical and dental schools to recognize entry into practice. In late spring of 2014, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing partnered with the Arnold P. Gold Foundation to provide opportunities to nursing programs to apply for funding to host similar ceremonies. This is the point at which these students begin a concentrated supervised clinical experience. 

The White Coat Ceremony will feature the recitation of an oath, receipt of a commemorative pin, an address by a role model, and a reception for students and invited guests. The specially designed pin will serve as a visual reminder of the students’ oath and commitment to provide compassionate and high quality care.
