Historian to Discuss "Building the Holocaust: Spaces of Genocide and Survival"

The Armstrong Lecture Series and the Department of History at Bradley University will present a lecture, titled "Building the Holocaust: Spaces of Genocide and Survival," on Wednesday November 11, at 7 p.m. in the Marty Theatre in the Michel Student Center.

Dr. Paul Jaskot of DePaul University will be the guest lecturer. Dr. Jaskot teaches courses on the history of architecture and modern European art, and specialized courses on the art and architecture of modern Germany as well as topics in Chicago architecture. He also has begun to develop classes on the burgeoning field of digital humanities. He has published a number of essays that explore the political function of architecture in the modern period, leading up to his most recent book The Nazi Perpetrator: Postwar German Art and the Politics of the Right (Minnesota 2012). In addition to his research, Jaskot has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the College Art Association, the U.S. professional group for artists and art historians.

The Armstrong Lecture, sponsored by the Department of History, is named for William M. Armstrong '47, a Peoria native who attended Bradley in the 1930's and 1940's, interrupted by service in France and the Philippines during World War II. Armstrong received a master's degree in history from Louisiana State University and his Ph.D. in history from Stanford University.
