Symphonic Winds and Band To Perform on the Hilltop

The Music Scholarship Concert Series continues at Bradley with performances by the Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band on Sunday, November 15, at 3 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue. Proceeds from the series go to scholarships for Bradley music students. Tickets are $10 for adults and free to students and are available at the door or by contacting the Cultural Events Box Office at 309-677-2650

The Bradley Symphonic Band is comprised of 80 students from across the campus. They will perform “First Suite in Eb” by Gustav Holst, “Awakening Hills” by Richard Saucedo, “Dusk” by Stephen Bryant and “Galop” by Dimitri Shostakovitch.

The Symphonic Winds is the top wind band at the university and is comprised of 60 members. They will performing “Overture for Winds” by Felix Mendelssohn, “Tribute” by Mark Camphous, “El Camino Real” by Alfred Reed and “Sailing Songs” by Eliott del Borgo.

Dr. David Vroman is the Director of Band Activities and the Chairperson for the Department of Music at Bradley. He conducts the Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, and Basketball Band. During the summer months he is the conductor of the Peoria Municipal Band that is comprised of some of the most outstanding wind and percussion performers in Central Illinois.
