Intellectual Property is subject of seminar

The Turner Center for Entrepreneurship will host a seminar, titled Cost Effective Strategies for Protecting and Commercializing Your Intellectual Property, on Wednesday, January 15, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Peoria Next Innovation Center, located at 801 W. Main Street.

The free presentation will feature Charles C. Valauskas, legal counsel to domestic and foreign companies, new ventures, universities, and research foundations. His specialties include digital technologies, software based systems, and hybrid inventions. Valauskas speaks on a regular basis throughout the world on technological and intellectual property topics. He has delivered many workshops at European Union sponsored events on intellectual property and technology transfer topics. He has appeared in articles published in popular publications including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the ABA Journal, and Food & Wine.

The seminar will cover an overview of the types of intellectual property, how intellectual property is established and strategies for protecting intellectual property in a cost effective manner while considering new laws, such as the America Invents Act.
