Students Rally at Capitol

February 17, 2016

Bradley students joined hundreds from around the state to rally in Springfield and urge Governor Rauner to sign legislation to fund MAP grants.

The Student Rally was held at the Capitol building in Springfield, afterwards students were able to meet individually with legislators to share their concerns and lobby them to find funding for the MAP program.

A second rally took place at the Thompson Center in Chicago at the same time.

MAP funding impacts 125,000 college students statewide and 1,000 Bradley students.

The rallies were organized by The Federation of Independent Illinois Colleges and Universities, the oldest private college association in the nation. The Federation is an advocacy organization that represents the public policy interests of Illinois’ non-profit colleges and universities. With a membership of fifty-eight institutions from all regions of the state, the Federation is a unified voice on behalf of the independent sector of higher education in Illinois.
