Scheduling a Visit

Thank you for your interest in poetry and promoting the art form within our state. As you might imagine, I have been swamped with requests for visits and readings. This encouraging sign bodes well for my efforts to bring poetry into the everyday lives of Illinois citizens of all ages. However, it also means that my schedule fills up rather quickly.

Please follow the link below, complete the form and email it to dschick@bradley.edu. At that point, your proposal will be reviewed to identify mutually agreeable dates.

Again, thanks for your support of the art of poetry. No doubt we both understand the Greek poet Sappho when she describes poetry's mysterious appeal in this way: "Mere air - these words - but so delicious to hear."

Please be sure to check out the State of Illinois Poet Laureate Website for more information, including featured Illinois poets, Illinois youth poetry, advice to young poets, video poetry, photos from my visits, samples of my poetry, and a special tribute to the previous Illinois Poet Laureates, Howard B. Austin, Carl Sandburg, and Gwendolyn Brooks.
