Maria L. Vertuno is the Founding Director of the Pre-Law Center of Bradley University. Prior to her appointment at Bradley, she was a partner with the law firm of Cassiday Schade LLP in Chicago. For 15 years, Ms. Vertuno devoted her career in civil litigation primarily to the representation and defense of hospitals, physicians, and other health care professionals in medical malpractice cases.
Ms. Vertuno has teaching experience at both the law school and undergraduate levels. She has served as a Legal Writing Instructor at DePaul University College of Law and as an Instructional Assistant Professor of Politics and Government at Illinois State University in the Legal Studies Program.
Ms. Vertuno has served as an Investigator for the Judicial Investigation Committee of the Chicago Bar Association. She is a member of the American, Illinois State, Peoria County, and Chicago Bar Associations. She is also a member of the Midwest Association of Pre-Law Advisors.
Ms. Vertuno received her J.D. degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1993, where she served as the Director of the Moot Court Program and as a Student Attorney in the Legal Aid Program. She received her B.A. in Political Science from Loyola University of Chicago, with honors, in 1990.
