Warner Bros. executive to give commencement address
Peoria, Illinois . . . April 11, 2006 . . . Doug Frank,
President of Music Operations at Warner Bros. Pictures, will
give the keynote address during the spring commencement
ceremony at Bradley University on May 13. The ceremony will
begin at 9:30 a.m. in Carver Arena at the Peoria Civic Center.
Frank will be awarded the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters
during the ceremony.
As the President of Music Operations for Warner Bros.
Pictures, Mr. Frank is involved in all aspects of music,
ranging from the score to the soundtrack album. He has
supervised the music on such feature films as "The
Bodyguard," all of the Batman films, the Lethal Weapon
series, "City of Angels," "Space Jam," the Harry Potter
series, the Matrix trilogy, "Charlie and The Chocolate
Factory," and the upcoming "Superman Returns."
As the former head of music for WB Television, he was
responsible for establishing the musical identities of shows
such as "Growing Pains," "Murphy Brown," and "China Beach."
The rebirth of Warner Bros. animation gave Mr. Frank the
opportunity to contribute to the studio's great history of
animation and animation scores. Composers hired for
animation projects have consistently won Emmy awards for WB
Animation.
In addition to his work with feature film and animation,
Frank is a consultant for the WB Network. He is also serving
as a National Trustee for the National Academy of Recording
Arts & Sciences (NARAS). Recently, he was selected to join
the Board of Directors of MusiCares, the philanthropic arm of
NARAS. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Henry
Mancini Institute, sponsoring and mentoring young and
aspiring musicians.
Mr. Frank began his musical career as a studio musician,
following a formal education in music at Brooklyn College.
He has composed scores for television and co-wrote the
musical "Marilyn: an American Fable," which ran on Broadway
in 1983. He also is a successful songwriter whose songs have
been recorded by many artists, including Dionne Warwick and
Placido Domingo.
