New compositions highlight Peoria Lunaire performance

Peoria, IL . . . April 4, 2006 . . . Peoria Lunaire, the Bradley University New Music Ensemble, will give its spring performance on Wednesday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.

The concert will include premieres of six new works by four Bradley composition students.

Jeremy Bell, a sophomore from Washington, will present three new pieces: "Speak," for choir, based on Bell's own poem; "Feill ec Cill Mhearnaig," a woodwind quintet; and "Ungaresca," a string quartet.

Rusty Duckworth, a senior from Washington, will present "La Puesta Del Sol" for woodwind quintet.

Erik Juhl, a sophomore from Highwood, will present "Four Early Songs" based on poetry of William Carlos Williams. Steven Merrill is the tenor soloist.

Aaron Wood, a junior from East Peoria, will present "The Look That Says" for flugelhorn and string quartet.

Several other works, including William Duckworth's "Pitch City," also will be performed. Bradley professor Stephen Heinemann is Peoria Lunaire's music director.
