Bio-medical photographer to exhibit work at Bradley
Peoria, Illinois . . . March 31, 2006 . . . The work of
Bradley alumnus and bio-medical photographer Michael Peres
will be exhibited in the 3rd floor gallery of the Cullom-Davis
Library at Bradley University starting April 7. In addition,
Peres will discuss his work at two events on April 7 on
campus. The exhibit and presentations are sponsored by the
Friends of Cullom-Davis Library.
Peres will discuss his work at 7:30 a.m. on April 7 in the
Wyckoff Room of the Library. A light breakfast will be
available. He also will give a presentation and discussion of
his work that evening at 7:30 in the Wyckoff Room. Both events
are open to the public. Donations will be accepted for the
breakfast.
Peres is the chairman of the Biomedical Photographic
Communications Department at the Rochester Institute of
Technology, a position he has held since 1989. As a professor
in the School of Photographic Arts & Sciences, he specializes
in photographing with microscopes, photomacrography as well as
bio-medical photography. He has authored numerous
publications, presented more than 100 oral papers and
conducted more than 35 imaging workshops all over the US and
in locations such as Sweden, Canada, Tanzania, the
Netherlands, Germany, and Australia. These workshops have
included topics such as digital imaging using the light
microscope and the production of QuickTime VR movies.
He has been a member of the Bio-Communications Association for
27 years and a member of the Ophthalmic Photographer's
Society. He is the Chair of the Lennart Nilsson Award
Nominating Committee, Co-Coordinators of the annual RIT Big
Shot project, and manages the Images from Science project. In
April 2003, he was one of the RIT Eisenhart outstanding
faculty award recipients. Peres holds a Master's Degree in
Instructional Technology from RIT, and a B.A. from Bradley.
He is a registered biological photographer.
