Bradley to host gospel music workshop
Peoria, Illinois...March 28, 2003... The Bradley University
Gospel Choir Annual Spring Music Workshop will be held April
11 and 12 in Dingeldine Music Center on the Bradley University
campus. More than 500 singers from Illinois, Iowa, Missouri,
Indiana, and several other states are expected to attend.
Karen Clark-Sheard, a member of the renowned gospel group the
Clark Sisters, will be the workshop leader. She received a
Lady of Soul Award for Best Gospel Female Vocalist in 1998,
and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Contemporary
Soul Gospel Album in 1999. She has appeared on television
programs including "Motown Live," "The Lady of Soul Awards,"
"The Soul Train Christmas Special," "BET's Gospel
Celebration," and "The Salute to Aretha Franklin."
Minister Shawn A. Ward of St. Loius will lead a workshop for
children. He is a songwriter, preacher, musician, teacher,
and Praise & Worship Team Leader for the Midwest District. He
has conducted music workshops in Canada, Tennessee, Kansas,
Florida, Arkansas, Illinois and many other areas. Ward is
preparing to produce his own "Praise & Worship" album.
A pre-workshop concert will be performed on April 11 at 7
p.m. The weekend will conclude with a 500 Voice Mass Choir
concert on April 12 at 7 p.m.
Workshop registration fees are $10 for adults and $5 for
children age 12 and under. College students may attend the
workshops free of charge by showing student identification.
