"Private Money" is subject of Thorson Lecture at Bradley

Peoria, Illinois . . . March 3, 2003 . . . "Private Money" will be the subject of the Douglas Y. Thorson Visiting Economist Lecture on April 28 at 3 p.m. in Baker Hall room 457.

The lecture will be given by Stephen D. Williamson, the Chester A. Phillips Professor of Financial Economics and chair of the economics department at the University of Iowa. He has served on the faculty of Queen's University, the University of Western Ontario, and the University of Iowa. He has been a research economist for both the Federal Reserve System (Minneapolis regional branch) and the Bank of Canada.

Professor Williamson's publication list includes several articles in the top journals in economics including American Economic Review, Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and the Journal of Money. He has served on the editorial boards of Review of Economic Dynamics, Journal of Monetary Economics, and the Canadian Journal of Economics. In 2002, Addison-Wesley published his textbook for undergraduates, Macroeconomics.

The Douglas Y. Thorson Visiting Economist Series is made possible through the continuing support of the Caterpillar Foundation. Additional funding for the program is provided by the Department of Economics in the Foster College of Business Administration at Bradley. The Series is named in honor of Professor Douglas Thorson, a longtime member and former chairperson of the economics department who died in March 2002. He had a 40-year affiliation with Bradley beginning in 1962 and was the recipient of both the Putnam Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Rothberg Award for Professional Excellence.
