Bradley ranked 3rd by U.S. News & World Report
Peoria, Illinois -- August 22, 2003 -- Bradley University has
been ranked 3rd among Midwestern comprehensive universities in
the 2004 edition of America's Best Colleges published by U.S.
News & World Report. In addition, Bradley's Department of
Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and Technology was
ranked number 1 in that special discipline.
Two years ago, Bradley ranked 5th and last year moved to 4th
in the Midwest in the annual publication which evaluates
reputation, class size, the academic profile of students, and
alumni giving to determine the overall ranking of schools.
"I am pleased that Bradley continues to be ranked highly among
such fine institutions," said Dr. David Broski, president of
Bradley. "As we continue to improve our campus facilities and
to strengthen our academic programs, Bradley's reputation as a
great school continues to grow as well."
The College of Engineering and Technology moved from 20th
nationally to 14th on the list of best undergraduate
engineering programs.
Bradley also is listed 3rd among midwestern universities on
the publication's list of "Great Schools at Great Prices." To
determine which schools offer the best value, U.S. News uses a
formula that relates a school's academic quality, as indicated
by its ranking, to the net cost of attendance for a student who
receives the average level of financial aid.
The newsstand book, America's Best Colleges, which contains
the U.S. News college rankings, is slated to go on sale in
September. Most of the rankings and some of the articles from
the book will be in the September 1 issue of U.S.News & World
Report, the weekly newsmagazine.
