Grammy-nominated artist to give recital at Bradley
Peoria, Illinois -- February 14, 2003 -- Grammy-nominated
recording artist John Barcellona will present a flute recital
in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue,
on Tuesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m.
The recital will include works by Joachim Andersen, Ian
Clarke, Dan Welcher, Robert Dick, and Louise Moyse.
Barcellona will be joined by pianist Molly Sloter, narrator
Kerry Walters in Claude DebussyÕs Bilitis, and flutist Kyle
Dzapo in Albert Franz DopplerÕs Andante and Rondo.
Barcellona will also present a flute master class in
Dingeldine Music Center on Monday, March 3, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Professor Barcellona is flutist with the Westwood Wind
Quintet (with recordings on Columbia, Crystal, and WIM
labels), and has played principal flute with the Pacific
Symphony, the Royal Ballet, the Royal Danish Ballet, and the
San Francisco Ballet. He is an active freelance musician in
the greater Los Angeles area and is a design consultant for
the Kori and Natsuki flute companies. He gives regular
summer master classes for the Northwest Flute Collegium in
Tacoma, Washington, Montana State University in Billings,
Montana, and the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival.
He teaches flute, coaches chamber music, and serves as
departmental woodwind coordinator at California State
University at Long Beach. He holds degrees from the Hartt
School of Music, California State University at Long Beach,
and a doctorate from the University of Southern California.
