Trumpet artist to perform at Bradley
Peoria, Illinois Ð March 27, 2003 Ð Trumpet artist Franz
Wagnermeyer will present a recital on Monday, April 7, at 7:30
p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker
Avenue.
Born in Passau, Germany, Franz Wagnermeyer completed his
studies at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, Austria. He
continued trumpet graduate work at the Hochschule fur Musik
und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna where he graduated with
honors and with recognition from the Austrian National
Cultural Ministry. He has performed with major orchestras
throughout Europe. His artistry as chamber musician and
soloist is in constant demand and has resulted in performances
in Italy, France, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Canada.
Wagnermeyer currently holds the positions of professor of
trumpet at the Musikschule Scharding, and solo trumpet with
both the Sudbohmischen Kammerphilharmonie and Martinu
Orchester Ð Brunn.
Assisting Mr. Wagnermeyer on the program will be Dr. Todd
Kelly, assistant professor of trumpet and director of jazz
ensembles at Bradley, along with a jazz trio consisting of
Matt Podschweit, piano, Toby Curtright, bass, and Tom Marko,
drums. Works on the program include Sonata for Trumpet and
Bassoon by Prenzel, Legende by George Enescu, and Concerto for
Trumpet and Orchestra in Ab, by Alexander Arutjunian, Autumn
Leaves, and Blue Monk.
