BU Theatre announces "Season of the Great Novels"
Thirteen unforgettable classics of world literature penned by
a host of the most revered writers in history including Mark
Twain, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Bram Stoker and Homer,
will be presented by Bradley University Theatre as part of
"The Season of the Great Novels!"
The 2003-2004 main stage productions will be presented in the
Meyer Jacobs Theatre in the Hartmann Center for the Performing
Arts and will include Mark Twain's "Big River: The Adventures
of Huckleberry Finn" on September 11-21, Bram Stoker's
"Dracula" on November 13-23, Homer's "The Odyssey" on February
26-March 9, and Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" on April
15-25.
An interactive adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's
"Treasure Island" will be presented for Peoria's younger
audiences on January 22-25.
In celebration of the romantic tradition of radio theatre,
Bradley Theatre will present two radio plays recorded before a
live audience for regional broadcast.
On December 6 and 7, Charles Dickens immortal classic, "A
Christmas Carol" adapted by Cora Wilson Greenwood, will be
presented and recorded live on the Meyer Jacobs Stage followed
on March 27 and 28 with John de Lancie's adaptation of H.G.
Wells' "The Time Machine."
To cap the season's offerings, Bradley Theatre will host two
film festivals focused on classic novels brought to life on
the silver screen. The Fall Film Festival, running from
October 24-26, will feature the films "To Kill A Mockingbird,"
"Frankenstein," and "Gone With The Wind" while the Spring Film
Festival, running April 2 - 4, will present "Moby Dick," "From
Here To Eternity," and "The Godfather." Admission to both the
fall and spring film festivals is free to the public.
