"Leadership and Ethics" subject of McCord Lecture
Don Soderquist, executive in residence at the Soderquist
Center for Leadership and Ethics at John Brown University,
will give the McCord Lecture on Friday, May 9, at noon in the
Michel Student Center ballroom.
Soderquist is former senior vice chairman and chief
operating officer of Wal-Mart, Inc., where he continued
Sam Walton's legacy and became known as the "keeper of
the culture," touching millions of lives through his
leadership ideas and ideals. He travels the world
challenging today's leaders to "lead with excellence
based on values that last and skills that work."
The McCord Lectureship was established by the
officers and directors of Illinois Mutual Life and
Casualty Company on July 31, 1990 in honor of
Robert A. McCord upon his retirement as chairman of
the board and cheif executive officer of the
company. The lectureship brings prominent business
executives to campus to meet with student groups
and business professionals from the community to
discuss managerial and organizational applications.
