Bradley Chorale to give holiday concert
The Bradley University Chorale, accompanied by Bradley
instrumentalists and directed by John Jost, will present a
concert of holiday music on Sunday, December 7, at 3 p.m.,
in the Dingeldine Music Center. Admission is $5 for adults
and free for students. The Dingeldine Music Center is
located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue in Peoria.
The program will include the "Christmas Cantata" for chorus
and double brass choir by Daniel Pinkham, "Agnus Dei" from
Mozart's "Missa brevis in Bb," K. 275, with string trio,
"Elohim Hashivenu" by Jewish Renaissance composer Salamone
Rossi, and music by Michael Praetorius, Herbert Howells,
Morten Lauridsen, and others. The program will conclude with
"El Regio Sendero" (The Royal Road) by Ben Alloway, a rhythmic
Puerto Rican-inspired work written to celebrate Three Kings
Day, featuring audience participation and accompanied by
percussion ensemble.
Bradley student conductors and soloists will be featured in
the performance, and the Bradley Madrigal Singers will perform
Renaissance Christmas motets and vocal jazz arrangements of
Christmas tunes.
The Bradley Chorale has performed extensively across the
United States and Europe. In May the Chorale will undertake a
nine-day concert tour of Denmark and Sweden, performing in the
church of the Royal Family in Copenhagen and presenting joint
concerts with Danish and Swedish choirs.
