Janet Kaizer to give lecture/recital
Peoria, Illinois . . . October 9, 2003 . . . Bradley University
piano instructor, Janet Kaizer, will present a lecture-recital
on the piano music of the French Impressionist composer Claude
Debussy in the Peters Recital Hall in Dingeldine Music Center
on Sunday, October 26, at 4 p.m. Admission is free.
The lecture will relate Debussy's music to the Impressionist
artists -- Monet, Degas, Pissaro, Sisley, and Renoir -- and
the Symbolist poets, Verlaine, Mallarm, Baudelaire, and
LouØs. The music performed will be Debussy's Preludes, Book I,
which includes: "La Fille Aux Cheveux De Lin" (The Girl with
the Flaxen Hair), "La Cathedrale Engloutie" (The Sunken
Cathedral), and "Minstrels."
