Export classification seminar offered at Bradley
Peoria, Illinois...October 22, 2003...A NAFTA export
classification seminar for beginning and experienced
international trade practitioners will be held on Tuesday,
October 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Michel Student
Center, meeting room 6, on the Bradley University campus.
The seminar is open to the public. The cost is $40 per person
and includes lunch, refreshments, and parking. Additional
attendees from the same company are welcome at a cost of $25.

Paul Coulombe, regional training coordinator for the Canada
Customs and Revenue Agency, will be the featured speaker. He
has trained hundreds of companies on the classification of
goods, NAFTA, customs valuation, and duty deferral.
The seminar will focus on compliance with customs regulations;
harmonized systems and why they are important; the differences
among heading, sub-headings, tariff items, and classification
numbers; general rules of interpretation; and the importance
of punctuation in legal and explanatory notes.
The seminar was developed through a partnership between
the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Illinois
Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and the
NAFTA Opportunity Center at Bradley University as a
service to Illinois small business.
