Bradley Wellness Program receives alcohol awareness award
Peoria, Illinois -- August 29, 2003 -- The Bradley
University Wellness Program's National Collegiate
Alcohol Awareness Week (NCAAW) Program is one of
three university programs nationwide to be recognized
for excellence in alcohol and drug abuse prevention
efforts.
Entries were judged for their impact on
year-round alcohol education programming and
support for NCAAW, and significant use of the
social norms approach in their prevention
efforts. This year's award marks the sixth
consecutive year Bradley's program has been
selected to receive this honor.
The Bradley H.E.A.T. (Help, Encourage, and
Teach) peer leadership program is a
significant factor in the success of the
alcohol education and prevention efforts on
campus. Alcohol Awareness at Bradley is
promoted through Safe Spring Break campaigns,
National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week
events, Alcohol Awareness Month activities,
and "mocktails" served at Siblings Weekend and
Casino Night.
Representatives from Bradley will
accept a commemorative plaque and an
award check in the amount of $5,000 to
be used for further prevention efforts
at a recognition event in Washington,
D.C. on September 16.
