Bradley announces Music Scholarship Concert Series

Peoria, Illinois...September 6, 2002...The Bradley University Department of Music has announced the 2002-03 Music Scholarship Concert Series.

The eight performances in the series feature guest artists and Bradley students and faculty in outstanding musical presentations. Individual tickets to the concerts are $5, but the eight-concert series subscription is currently available at a reduced price of $30. To become a series subscriber call 309-677-2595. Individual concert tickets are available in advance at 309-677-2650 or at the door one hour prior to the performance.

The first concert will be performed at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, in Dingeldine Music Center and will feature guest artist Jason Vieaux. Vieaux is widely recognized as one of the most exciting guitarists of his generation. His dynamic concert programs are highlighted by his effortless virtuosity, natural musicianship and an engaging manner with audiences worldwide. These attributes have earned him a busy schedule of solo, chamber and concerto engagements, performing a wide range of repertoire from the Renaissance to the music of our time.

While concert tours take him across the United States and to such locations as Spain, France, Canada, Mexico, Southeast Asia and New Zealand, he is also a sought-after teacher and has assumed a leadership role as head of the Guitar Department at the distinguished Cleveland Institute of Music. Now recording for the Azica label, for which he recently has added three new CDs to his discography, Vieaux was the winner of the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America International Competition in 1992 and was honored as a top prizewinner in Naumburg International Guitar Competition.
