Bradley University celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1997 as an independent, privately endowed, coeducational institution. Located in Peoria, Illinois, Bradley was founded in 1897 as Bradley Polytechnic Institute by Lydia Moss Bradley as a memorial to her children and husband, Tobias. It became a four-year college in 1920, and in 1946 became a university and began offering graduate programs. It is fully accredited.
Dr. Broski became the ninth leader of Bradley University when
he was appointed president on February 4, 2000.
Dr. Broski, chancellor of the University of Illinois at
Chicago from 1996 to 1999, served that university as provost and
vice chancellor for academic affairs from 1991 through 1996. Formerly
the dean of UIC's College of Associated Health Professions, he
held concurrent academic appointments as professor of Health
Resources Management in the School of Public Health and
professor of Medical Education in the College of Medicine.
Prior to his appointment at UIC, Dr. Broski served from 1974
to 1983 as assistant, then associate professor and associate
director, then director of Graduate Studies of the School of
Allied Medical Professions in the Ohio State University
College of Medicine. Born in Lansing, Michigan, Dr. Broski earned
his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from Michigan State University.
He was awarded a graduate fellowship and subsequently served as an
instructor at Michigan State University during his doctoral
studies.
Dr. Liberty came to Bradley in January of 1998 from the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he had served as Dean of
the College of Engineering and Technology, Interim Vice
Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Professor of Electrical
Engineering. Dr. Liberty also served as Science and
Technology Advisor to two Nebraska Governors. He is presently
a director of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Liberty
holds bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in electrical
engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He and his
wife, Angie, have two adult children and three grandchildren.
Mr. Anna has been at Bradley since 1981, having served as
Controller until 1983 and Chief Financial Officer and
Treasurer since. He also was Bradley's interim president from
June 1999 until June 2000. As Treasurer, he oversees the
management of investment portfolios in excess of $200 million,
including an endowment of over $170 million. He is a certified
public accountant and is a member of both the American
Institute and the Illinois State Society of Certified Public
Accountants. Mr. Anna has served on a number of community and
advisory boards and is a Trustee of the Preferred Group of
Mutual Funds. Mr. Anna graduated from Bradley University in
1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and was employed
by Price Waterhouse until 1981. He and his wife, Barbara, have
two sons, Steven and David.
After a lengthy career as a Chicago business executive, Mr.
Engelbrecht has served since 1999 as executive-in-residence
and instructor of marketing in the Foster College of Business
Administration at Bradley. He received the Outstanding
Faculty Member Award from the Bradley chapter of Mortar Board
National Senior Honor Society that same year. In May 2001, he was
appointed director of the University's new Executive MBA program.
Mr. Engelbrecht rose through the ranks at the Leo Burnett Co., one of
the world's largest marketing firms, to eventually serve as its
Executive Vice President where he managed a staff of more than
600 persons in five divisions of the company.
He earned both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from
the University of Illinois. He and his wife, Helen, have three sons, Matthew, Andrew, and Kyle.
Ms. Fuller has been with Bradley University since 1982.
During that time she has been responsible for proposal
development, the writing of fundraising brochures and
audio/visual production, print communications for the Campaign
for Bradley, speech writing, prospect research, and special
events. Currently her responsibilities include institutional
marketing and the management of publications and public
information. Ms. Fuller has a B.A. in English from Denison
University, and has previously worked in advertising for
Sears, Roebuck & Co., Chicago, and Hult, Fritz, Matuszak &
Associates Advertising Agency, Peoria. She and her husband
Bob, have two sons, Bryan and Matt.
Mr. Kavanagh is in his fifth year at the helm of the Braves athletic department. He came to Bradley from Bowling Green State University, where he steadily moved up the administrative ranks in nine years at the Mid-American Conference school. After starting as an assistant athletics director in 1987, Kavanagh left BGSU in 1996 as the senior associate athletics director. He began his administrative career by working in the athletic department at Yale University from 1982 to 1985, then worked as a graduate assistant in the athletic department at the University of Notre Dame from 1985 to 1987 before joining Bowling Green. A native of Greenwich, Connecticut, Kavanagh earned his undergraduate degree in finance from Boston College in 1982 and a master's degree in business administration from Notre Dame in 1987. He and his wife, Mary, have four children, Rose, Mitchell, Quinn, and Jack. |
