Health science goes global
It’s no secret: the society we live and work in has gone global. With the advances in technology, what was once only accessible locally is now available throughout the world.
In like manner, education is definitely a part of this cultural shift. As a result, Bradley University has invested in offering students a variety of opportunities for international studies. Accordingly, the Department of Physical Therapy and Health Sciences has contributed to these opportunities by creating three study abroad courses (Interdisciplinary Health, Comparative Health Policy, and Special Topics in Health Science) for undergraduate students. These courses are designed to increase the student’s knowledge of health care delivery systems and professions and to encourage students to explore topics of international interest. The best thing is that these courses can be offered anywhere in the world.
Moreover, the College of Education and Health Sciences has implemented the Global Scholars Program. This program’s intent is to recognize students who have gone above the norm in the areas of global awareness and cross-cultural competence, which are crucial concepts in dealing with differences and learning from other people of other cultures. Global Scholars are expected to study abroad and to participate in campus and community cultural experiences. Upon graduation, Global Scholars Program students receive a special notation on their transcripts indicating that they have successfully completed the program.
