The Campaign for a Bradley Renaissance

Hayden-Clark Alumni Center

Two $2.5 million gifts pledged toward construction of a new Alumni Center directly west of Bradley Hall were announced October 4, 2008, by Bradley University President Joanne Glasser.

Jerry ’59 and Marilyn Hayden ’61 and Bob ’67 and Kathleen Clark made the contributions for the 34,700-square-foot Hayden-Clark Alumni Center.

“The Hayden-Clark Alumni Center will change the way we greet alumni and guests forevermore,” Glasser told a capacity crowd at the Michel Student Center Ballroom during Founder’s Day ceremonies on campus. “It will be a facility we can all be proud of.”

The Haydens have long supported Bradley. Jerry was a captain of the track team, and a member of the Vets Club and the B-Club. He is the retired chairman and CEO of Peacock Engineering Company and a Bradley Centurion. Marilyn was a member of Chi Omega. Their support began 40 years ago with a $10 gift.

Residing in Denver, Colo. with his wife Kathleen, Bob Clark is president of Bear Cub Investments with a distinguished career in various energy-related endeavors. He is a Bradley Centurion and long-time contributor, beginning with a $5 gift in 1969.

“This is a landmark day for Bradley University, for the Haydens and Clarks, and for our alumni,” Glasser said.

The Hayden-Clark Alumni Center will include an alumni hall of pride, an alumni library, offices, conference rooms and a ballroom that can accommodate more than 200 guests. The view from the balconies over the new campus Alumni Quad is expected to be stunning, with aesthetically pleasing landscaping between the Markin Family Student Recreation Center, the Puterbaugh Men’s Basketball Practice Facility and the Athletic Performance Center.

“I’m confident the Hayden-Clark Alumni Center will be a wonderful addition to the Bradley campus and will encourage our alumni to be more involved with, and more supportive of, the University,” Glasser said.

The cost of the Hayden-Clark Alumni Center is projected to be about $12 million. It is one of six building projects included in the $150 million Renaissance Campaign that was launched in April 2008.
