Withdrawal Policy

  • Withdrawing from Bradley University during a semester
  • Not returning to Bradley University the next semester

       -Transferring to another school

                - Taking a leave of absence

To withdraw from Bradley University:

A student may drop a class at anytime online using Webster computer system prior to the last day to drop classes (usually two weeks before Study Day of each semester).

However, if a student desires to drop all his/her classes for the semester after the third week of the semester until the 12th week of the semester, he/she must meet with the Executive Director of the Center for Student Support Services, located in 101 Sisson Hall, to receive an honorable withdrawal.  After the 12th week, the Dean of the student’s college must review and approve the withdrawal request.

An appointment can be made by calling 677-3658 or going to Sisson Hall room 101.

A student who has a medical condition that will prevent him/her from completing the requirements of all classes, must provide documentation from the Bradley University Health Center stating that the student is unable to complete the semester’s coursework.

The Executive Director of the Center for Student Support Services will also explore alternative academic options rather than a complete withdrawal.  However, if the student cannot find a feasible solution to his/her reason for withdrawing, the appropriate paperwork will be initiated through the Center for Student Support Services in 101 Sisson Hall.  A checklist of withdrawal items will be discussed.  These include housing, financial assistance, billing, academic recording, and book return.  The withdrawal date (which is critical to the billing of the tuition for the semester) will be dated the day in which the student agrees and signs the withdrawal request form (except in the case of hospitalization).

When a student withdraws, he/she must be prepared to move their personal belongings out of the residence halls (if occupied), his/her QuickCard will become inactive immediately, and the student will no longer be able to participate in Bradley University activities.

For specific impact that dropping a class or withdrawing from the semester will have on his/her financial assistance, the student must consult with the Financial Aid Office in Swords Hall.

Graduate students may withdraw at anytime between the third and twelfth week of classes for any circumstances through the Webster system.

When Not Returning to Bradley University Next Semester:

During the middle of a semester, if a student decides to transfer to another school, he/she should contact the Executive Director of the Center for Student Support Services.  An exit interview will be conducted either in person or via telephone by calling 309-677-3658.  The exit interview will only take a couple of minutes.  Information concerning transcripts and returning to Bradley University will be provided.

If a student must take a semester off from school, he/she may apply for a Leave of Absence.  The student must be in academic good standing and the application must be completed and turned into the Registrar’s Office BEFORE the first day of the semester for which the student wishes to take the leave.  The petition may be obtained in the Dean’s Office of the student’s major.  Students on a leave of absence may NOT enroll in classes at another institution.

Students who do not plan to return for the next semester:

  • Contact the Center for Student Support Services at 309-677-3658.
  • A brief exit interview will be conducted.
  • Information on transferring and/or returning will be discussed.
