Turner Center Appointee to Federal Trade Policy Committee
Fall 2003
John Kolmer, the Turner
Center's NAFTA Trade
Specialist, has recently
been appointed to the
Industry Sector Advisory
Committee for Trade
Policy Matters on Small
and Minority Business
(ISAC 14), the only
advisory committee to
the U.S. Government on
the export concerns of
small and minority
businesses.
The Committee's task is to provide the President with bipartisan input on trade policy objectives and bargaining positions for multilateral trade negotiations, bilateral trade negotiations, and other trade-related policy matters. ISAC 14's efforts strengthen the U.S. negotiating position by enabling the United States to display a united front when it negotiates trade agreements with other nations. Additionally, ISAC 14 provides the President with advice and information on issues that affect U.S. small and minority businesses such as market access problems, barriers to trade, tariff levels, and discriminatory foreign procurement practices.
John's participation on ISAC 14 gives Turner Center clients a voice in developing U.S. trade policy, and will help keep the work of the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative relevant to the export challenges of small and minority businesses.
