Anthony Hermann

Biography

Professor Hermann received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology at The Ohio State University in 2002. After teaching as a visiting professor at Kalamazoo College for a year, Professor Hermann taught for several years at Willamette University before joining the Bradley University Psychology Department in 2008.

Teaching

Dr. Hermann currently teaches Principles of Psychology, Social Psychology, Experimental Psychology, and directs the Honor Experience in Psychology.

Scholarship

Most of Professor Hermann's research focuses on how self-evaluations are maintained and how they are related to interpersonal dynamics. He has become particularly interested in how extremely favorable self-evaluations (e.g., narcissistic ones) are related to positive and negative social behavior. He is currently editing a book tentatively titled the "The Handbook of Trait Narcissism: Key Advances, Research Methods, and Controversies" for Springer.

He also conducts research on how to effectively communicate expectations between students and college instructors and how such communication affects classroom outcomes.

Service

Dr. Hermann serves as the director of the Honors Experience in Psychology and is an active participant in other departmental committees and initiatives.
