Beatriz became certified as a Customs Certified Specialist (CCS) by the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America, Inc., (NCBFAA) in 2019. She holds her business administration degree from Universidad EAN in Bogota, Colombia where she is originally from. Beatriz began her career at Bradley University in 2008 as the Free Trade Agreement Specialist where she advises small businesses on their international trade compliance issues. Beatriz brings personal and professional experience so small businesses can succeed domestically and internationally.
Beatriz Ramirez has over 25 years of experience in accounting, international marketing and sales, and import and export compliance, which includes freight forwarding. Beatriz is also a technical translator and simultaneous translator. She graduated as a Bilingual Secretary from the Centro Colombo Americano (CCA) College. This bilingual institution is the only institution recognized by the American Embassy.
Working her way through college, she worked simultaneously with a General Electric Subsidiary and a Caterpillar Dealership from 1981 – 1991. During this time, she also received her Business Management Degree which helped her obtain a promotion within Caterpillar in the cost and inventory department, accounting department, and the Comptroller’s Department. After becoming the assistant to the comptroller, Beatriz secured the opportunity to be an analyst for accounts receivables, accounts payable, international trade, and leasing of Caterpillar equipment. She also audited all cash advances and travel expenses for General Electric and Caterpillar Dealer Employees.
After moving to the Peoria area in 1991, Beatriz joined Dynamic Graphics, in 1994, as the Latin America and Caribbean Marketing and Sales Coordinator. She gained knowledge and experience in selling internationally to end users, representatives, and distributors which included two of Dynamic Graphics’ subsidiaries, Mexico and Brazil. In 1999, Beatriz then began working at 4B Components Ltd., as the Latin America sales director, where she established and managed distributors in order to increase 4B’s revenue sales.
Working for the above-mentioned two small businesses, Beatriz had built a relationship with the Illinois SBDC International Trade Center at Bradley University. She had taken advantage of the center’s programs and services; therefore, could easily advise small businesses with the goal of helping those businesses grow internationally and increase their export sales.
