As a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) for the Music Teachers National Association, Dr. Choi is a faculty member in the Department of Music. Prior to her appointment at Bradley University, she was an adjunct assistant professor at Millikin University, where she taught college group and preparatory piano. She was also the Coordinator of the Piano Laboratory Program (PLP) at the University of Illinois (UIUC) School of Music.

Dr. Choi served as President of the UIUC MTNA Student Chapter in 2009-2010 and has been an advisor of this group since 2011. She was also Vice-President for the Decatur Area Music Teachers Association where she organized duet festivals and provided solo and duet performances. Dr. Choi’s recent competition awards include the American Protégé International Piano and String Competition where she performed at the Carnegie, Weill Recital Hall in New York, April 2012. She also was awarded honorable mention from the Buono & Bradshaw International Piano Competition in 2010. She has performed in master classes with Richard and John Contiguglia, the renowned duo-pianists, Ludmilla Lazar, Steven Meyer, and Emanuel Krasovsky among others. As an accomplished accompanist, she frequently collaborates with soloists and chamber musicians.

Dr. Choi completed her doctoral degree from UIUC in Piano and Piano Literature with Piano Pedagogy as the cognate minor in 2012. She also holds a M.M. in Piano Pedagogy from UIUC. She has studied piano with Drs. Ian Hobson and William Heiles, piano pedagogy with Dr. Reid Alexander (dissertation research advisor) and Dr. Christos Tsitsaros. Dr. Choi served on the piano faculty for ISYM piano camps in 2007-2012 and also taught at the Millikin University High School piano camp in 2012.  She founded the successful Bradley University summer piano camp for middle and high school students.

Dr. Choi will be joined at the Piano Camp by Bradley University keyboard faculty who have many years of successful teaching and performing experience.
