International Artist in Residence

August 23, 2017

The Department of Art welcomes Bryony Hussey to campus as our second International Artist in Residence. Bryony works in London out of Tottenham Hale International Studios (THIStudios), Bradley's partner for the International Artist Exchange. This exchange program includes opportunities for Bradley faculty and graduate students in art to visit THIStudios as artists in residence every other year. Bryony will share studio space with graduate students at the Heuser Art Center for the entire month of September. She will present a lecture on her own artwork as part of the Visual Voices Lecture Series on Thursday, September 21, at 5:00 in the David Horowitz Auditorium, GCC 126.

Hussey has exhibited her work internationally, most recently in Stuttgart, Germany, where she exhibited her moving image work Mixed Feelings at Palermo Galerie. Of her own work, Hussey states, "Through photography, moving image and print I focus on the uncanny in everyday life. I like to reiterate, rehouse and reactivate gestures and patterns, while experimenting to find a format that fits. I’m primarily interested in the connections between accident and permanence, locality and technology."

Hussey will interact with students, faculty, and staff across campus during her stay. In addition to her professional lecture, Hussey will work with Bradley representatives to create new works on site. The Department of Art thanks the Bradley University Intellectual and Cultural Activities Committee for their generous support of the International Artist Exchange.
