Graduate Program 4+1

August 30, 2012

In the spring of 2009, the Biology Department created a new graduate program. The Biology 4+1
program is geared to retain our talented undergraduate research students for an additional year. Students enroll in the 4+1 graduate program during the spring of their junior year or fall of their senior year. They are required to complete their normal undergraduate requirements in their fourth year. During the fifth year, the student would continue to perform research while completing the course requirements for the graduate program. Some of the fourth year courses will count in the graduate program.
During the summer of 2012, our first 4+1 graduate student, Jennifer Mullikin, completed her research and defended her thesis under the direction of Dr. Sherri Morris.
