Graduate Student Handbook

CS&IS Graduate Student Comprehensive Exam Policy

  1. Every CS&IS graduate student is required to take comprehensive exam no later than during his/her final semester at Bradley University. NOTE: The final semester is defined as a semester when a graduate student takes at least one final 3-credit graduate course - i.e. required course # 11 - of his/her CS or CIS approved program of study.

  2. If a CS&IS graduate student fails the comprehensive exam during his/her final semester at Bradley, then he/she will be allowed to retake the comprehensive exam again during the following semester. However, in this case, a graduate student is required to register for a zero-credit CS681 or CIS681 class in the following semester.  NOTE: A CS&IS graduate student can retake the comprehensive exam only one (1) time.

CS&IS Graduate Assistantship Policy

The CS&IS Department has the following regulation about Graduate Assistantships (GAs) for CS or CIS graduate students in their final semester at Bradley University.  A student is NOT eligible for GA in the final semester if he/she takes fewer than two traditional in-classroom courses from the approved graduate program of study.

NOTE 1:  A final semester  is defined as a semester at Bradley University when a graduate student takes at least one final 3-credit graduate course - i.e. required course # 11 - of his/her CS or CIS approved program of study.

NOTE 2:  CS698 or CIS698 DIS courses are considered as NON in-classroom  courses.

NOTE 3:  CS502, CS681 and CIS681 courses are always outside CS or CIS graduate program of study.
