Teaching
Dr. Antola Crowe has taught at the early childhood and collegiate levels for over 30 years, both in Finland and the United States. She was the William T. Kemper Teaching Excellence Fellow overseeing the Professional Development School Project for Bradley University for a dozen years. Currently she is the Executive Director for the Center of Teaching Excellence and Learning overseeing professional development for faculty and staff.
Scholarship
Dr. Antola Crowe is the author of many research and pedagogical publications on empowerment, early childhood curriculum, wellbeing and the workplace and other topics, including a book entitled The ethnography of Empowerment: The transformative power of classroom interactions. She has conducted hundreds of refereed, and invited presentations and workshops locally, nationally and internationally on learner empowerment, pedagogy in all areas of the curriculum, curricular integration; program evaluation, portfolio assessment, professional growth; cross-cultural competence and diversity, wellbeing, ethnography in educational research; brain-based learning and teaching, developmentally and culturally appropriate practices; educational goals; community building, social-emotional learning in student achievement; and professional development schools.
Service
She works in the university community to facilitate international activities and is involved with the Peoria Area Friends of International Students, currently as the President. She is active in the Illinois Association of Teacher Educators, Phi Kappa Phi and serves as the faculty advisor for the Bradley Association for the Education of Young Children.
