Early Assurance
First-year students admitted to the undergraduate program in Kinesiology and Health Science have the opportunity for early assurance (formerly known as direct admission) into Bradley’s graduate program if they meet the following main criteria:
DPT Early Assurance - “Application”
- To qualify for Early Assurance, students must have:
- attained a minimum 3.25/4 high school GPA
- completed the equivalent of one year of high school biology and one year of high school chemistry. One year of physics is highly recommended.
- Enter Bradley as a First-Year student majoring in Kinesiology and Health Science
- Students must apply for DPT Early Assurance by the September 1 of their second year at Bradley.
Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:- Attainment of a minimum 3.0 GPA overall in courses taken at Bradley
- Attainment of a minimum 3.0 GPA in required math and science courses at Bradley. BIO 111/113; BIO 112/14 OR BIO 202; and either MTH 111 or 115 must be completed by the time of application. These courses must be taken at Bradley unless credit was received for high school coursework.
- Documentation of at least 10 hours of observation in a healthcare setting, preferably with a licensed physical therapist. Employment in a healthcare setting (aide/tech, CNA, etc) can be used to satisfy this requirement.
- Completion of a “Path to Graduation” plan, including planned courses, anticipated graduation semester, and extracurricular activities (volunteer work, employment, clubs, etc).
- Signed affirmation acknowledging that the student will complete the DPT pathway of courses.
- Notification of initial Early Assurance Status will be made during the fall semester following application.
- Once on Early Assurance, the following requirements must be met:
- At the end of each subsequent semester, students must update a Google form logging the following items:

- CHM 110/111; CHM 116/117

- MTH 111 OR 115

- KHS 460; KHS 470 OR KHS 480
- NUR 391 (or CHM 302)
- Minimum of 3 electives (at least 2 in KHS)
- DPT Pathway Courses
- Observation hours completed to date
- Overall GPA
- Required courses GPA
- Extracurricular activities
- Involvement in 2 or more organizations or events equivalent to 8 hours per semester OR
- Significant involvement in one organization or event for > 10 hours per semester.
- Activities may include University or community organizations, athletic teams, part-time employment, etc.
- Completed required classes for the DPT pathway
- All required math and science courses must be taken at Bradley (BIO, CHM, MTH, PHY), unless credit was received for high school coursework.
- All required math and science courses (BIO 111/113, BIO 112/114 or 202, BIO 230/231, 232/233; CHM 110/111, CHM 116/117; PHY 107, PHY 108) must be completed by the beginning of the final year (or at the time of Bradley DPT program application).
- Attainment of a minimum 3.5 overall GPA and 3.5 GPA in required math and science (BIO, CHM, PHY, A&P) courses by beginning of final year (or at the time of Bradley DPT program application).
- Completion of at least 40 hours in at least 2 settings by time of Bradley DPT PTCAS application. No more than 5 of these hours can be completed in the department’s Clinic for Fitness and Function.
- Students will receive confirmation of ongoing Early Assurance status at the beginning of each semester if the Google form has been submitted.
- At the end of each subsequent semester, students must update a Google form logging the following items:
- Students must begin the PTCAS application process by Sept 1 with all materials submitted by Sept 15 of senior year.
