Don and Cynthia Glover Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2004 by the Glovers. The annual awardee must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and is selected by the department. Furthermore, the recipient must be a chemistry major with a minor in the humanities or fine and performing arts. A. Donald Glover (B.A., Culver-Stockton College; Ph.D., Carnegie Institute of Technology; Post Doctoral, California Institute of Technology) came to Bradley in 1966 as an assistant professor and rose to the rank of professor and chair of the department before his retirement in 2000. During his career at Bradley, Don co-founded the medical technology program, the biochemistry/molecular biology program, and the BRDC postdoctoral program. He also established the Chemistry Advisory Board and pioneered the freshman chemistry “drop-back” option for struggling students. Don played a key role in the creation of courses designed primarily for nurses and the creation of the department’s seminar program. He was known for his classroom excellence, subtle humor and tireless service to the University. Don and Cynthia (B.A., Culver-Stockton; M.S., University of Pittsburgh) actively participated in the University’s sabbatical leave programs spending extended periods of time in Australia, New Zealand, Scotland and Yugoslavia. Upon retirement, Don and Cynthia have enjoyed gardening, travel and their grandson.
