Smith Career Center
The Smith Career Center assists students in exploring and defining career options, developing job search strategies, obtaining career-related work experience, and identifying and connecting with prospective employers. Innovative services respond to current trends and economic conditions affecting the job market and career opportunities. These include:
- individual career advisement
- job search preparation
- resume development and review
- cooperative education and internships
- career seminars
- job fairs
- graduate and professional school fair
- campus interviews with employers
- one-credit course in job search strategies
Students may access the Smith Career Center’s eRecruiting service through the MyBU portal. Students may use eRecruiting to submit resumes for the Web Resume Book, review Web job listings, and sign up for campus interviews. Use of eRecruiting is restricted to currently enrolled Bradley University students and recent graduates. Additional Web-based resources are available to help students learn more about career information, job availability, and networking. The Smith Career Center Web site offers access to specific online resources, including eRecruiting (resume database, job listings, and campus recruiting sign-ups); Interview Stream (practice interview system); Optimal Resume (resume development Web site); Focus2 Career Assessment; Going Global; and “What Can I do with a Major in…?”
Students are encouraged to gain a competitive advantage by participating in career-related work experiences prior to graduation. Through internships, cooperative education, and summer or part-time employment, the Marjorie and Bill Springer Center for Excellence in Internships provides students with opportunities for professional development that integrate classroom theory with supervised work experience.
Over 400 employers visit the Bradley campus each year to consider Bradley candidates for internship, cooperative education, summer, part-time, and full-time jobs. Students have the opportunity to meet employers during special presentations, job fairs, and on-campus interviews.
