The Degree in Nursing
Bradley’s Department of Nursing offers an undergraduate curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Students are admitted to the nursing program as freshmen and begin clinical experiences during the first semester of their sophomore year.

Our graduates develop the essential capabilities for beginning practice as a professional nurse. Clinical experiences include:

  • Emergency nursing
  • Critical care nursing
  • Adult medical-surgical nursing
  • Perioperative observation
  • Skilled care nursing
  • Mental health nursing
  • Community health nursing
  • Maternal-child nursing
  • Pediatric nursing

Nurses are increasingly at the forefront of innovative healthcare developments. Bradley’s nursing program incorporates a study of liberal arts – which offers a rich and valuable background through foundation, elective, and supporting courses in the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics.

Bradley’s nursing program blends theory and practice to prepare graduates to successfully complete the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s NCLEX-RN examination to become a registered nurse (RN).

The nursing program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

The Department of Nursing prepares professional nurses for a changing global society. Within the comprehensive university setting, the Department of Nursing provides a dynamic personalized nursing education.

Opportunities at Bradley
Students may be invited to become members of the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing during their junior or senior year. During their senior year, students can choose to participate in the role exploration program, which places students in clinical areas of interest where they are assigned to follow a nurse mentor.

Through faculty and student collaboration, dynamic learning environments, and mentoring, nursing graduates are prepared to be the next generation of nursing leaders and lifelong learners that will meet a global society’s health care needs.

Beyond Bradley
Bradley is in an ideal location for nursing employment, as Peoria is the downstate Medical Center of Illinois with three major medical centers. The placement rate for Bradley Nursing graduates seeking employment or enrolling in graduate education is typically 100% within 6 months of graduation.
