Bradley’s Department of Sociology and Social Work offers an undergraduate curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Sociology. The study of Sociology is a dynamic and powerful tool to understand the way people organize themselves into families, groups, communities, cities and organizations, and societies. Sociology is a popular major for students planning careers in professions such as:

Instructors bring their research interests into the classroom. The Sociology faculty makes a special effort to initiate students into a scholarly community which brings together a distinguished faculty, interested citizens, and community leaders. The Department sponsors lectures, organizes conferences, and participates in panel discussions on subjects of wide interest.

Bradley’s Distinctive Approach
Outside of the classroom, Bradley Sociology majors enjoy many cocurricular and cooperative learning experiences, including:

  • the Sociology Club, which sponsors forums that address pressing contemporary issues and provide opportunities for social activities and interaction
  • Pi Gamma Mu, an international social science honor society
  • Alpha Kappa Delta, a sociology honor society.

Beyond Bradley
Graduates of Bradley’s Sociology and Social Work Department go on to be successful in careers as caseworkers and administrators, social work counselors, and teachers or pursue graduate studies in social work, psychology, counseling, and guidance.
