Meinen Field


Meinen Field is a 5.7-acre outdoor sports complex located by the St. James Apartments. Complete with two and a half outdoor basketball courts, a softball diamond, and a fenced-in 380’-by-290’ grass field utilized by intramurals and club sport teams, Meinen is the prime outdoor facility utilized by students for recreational activities.

Hours of operation

Meinen Field is closed for the remainder of the 2017 calendar year. Meinen will re-open in the spring at a time yet to be determined (weather contingent). Please check back for status updates. 

The Meinen Field Complex will be open for use according to the following schedule, unless weather or field conditions determine otherwise. The Campus Recreation Department will be responsible for making these decisions in consultation with University grounds personnel. Field status information will be available in the Campus Recreation Office, Room 120 at the Markin Center, at the Meinen Field Complex Building, and at . All attempts will be made to adhere to the nightly closing time, but occasional exceptions will be necessary to complete the final intramural contest of the evening.

Spring & Fall Hours 

  • Monday - Thursday:  2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
  • Friday - Saturday: 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Sunday:  12:00 PM to 5:00 PM


The Meinen Field Complex will be scheduled and managed by Campus Recreation and Athletic Facilities. Scheduled intramural sports events will represent the primary use of the complex. A schedule of events will be posted at the Meinen Field Complex Building.

The Bradley University Meinen Field Complex will be available to all Bradley University students and faculty/staff, who have purchased the Markin Center Privilege. Meinen Field is also available to family members who have completed the proper paperwork for the Markin Center Family Guest Pass. Scheduled events and those coordinated through the Campus Recreation and Athletic Facilities Office will have precedence over informal activities.

Reservation policy

The Meinen Field Complex can be reserved by Bradley University students, faculty, staff, and student organizations for university events. A Facility Request Form may be picked up in the Campus Recreation office, Markin Center 120. Facility Request Forms must be submitted no less than two weeks prior to the event date to be considered for approval.

Rental policy

The Meinen Field Complex will be available on a limited basis for rental to non-Bradley groups and organizations during periods when Bradley University is not in session and other activities are not scheduled. A Facility Rental Request Form may be obtained through the Campus Recreation office, Markin Center 120. Fees associated with the renting of the basketball courts and field space include a Rental Fee of $25 per court/field per hour, and a Site Supervisor fee of $6 per hour. If the fields and/or courts are rented during the evening when lights are needed, the Rental Fee including lights will be $50 per court/field per hour, and a Site Supervisor Fee of $6 per hour. The Meinen Field Complex will be supervised during open hours. The supervisor will uphold all policies and procedures listed in this document. The supervisor will also be responsible for securing the facility at closing time.
