Group fitness classes are fun, challenging and competition free. Taught by trained student and/or faculty instructors, group fitness offers a quality means of staying active and in shape. Regardless of whether you are new to working out, a veteran exerciser or just getting back into shape, everyone is welcome to participate.
Group fitness classes are free for undergraduates, graduates, faculty and staff with a Markin Membership for the Fall 2020 semester.
Punch Cards and Unlimited SEMESTER Passes are available in the Campus Recreation Office, Room 120 Markin Center.

BARRE: Barre is a ballet inspired group exercise class. In each barre class, participants will experience a variety of dance-based strengthening exercises to upbeat music. No previous ballet experience is needed to get a great barre workout!
BODY BLAST: Weights and cardio. Cardio and weights. Body Blast does both to work your ENTIRE body!!
BODY SCULPT:: Target your entire body using weights, exercise bands, bars, or Resist-a-Balls for improved tone and strength. No choreography. All fitness levels welcome.
BOOT CAMP: A combination of strength, cardio, muscle endurance, flexibility, core, and functional movement patterns. You get EVERYTHING you need!
BUTTS-N-GUTS: A combination of lower body, abs and lower back exercises to tone, sculpt and strengthen the lower body and core.
CARDIO STRENGTH: A challenging workout to get your blood flowing using weights and other props to improve strength, balance and core.
CIRCUIT TRAINING: This class is a rigorous interval training sequence with high intensity exercises. It builds cardiovascular fitness while improving muscular strength and endurance!
CORE STRENGTH: Tone and strengthen your abs and lower back with this intense 15 minute workout.
CYCLE: A class designed to increase cardiovascular fitness and leg strength. A great break from a normal running routine. Classes are 30 minutes long.
DANCE FIT: Throughout the class students will experience choreography and fitness to create dance-inspired workouts that incorporate basic movements. The class takes students step by step through each movement, so you don’t have to be a dancer to feel the benefits of the class.
FLOW YOGA: A combination of accessible poses, fluid movement and breath. Over the course of 60 minutes you will move through a series of poses that gently engage and open major muscle groups.
PILATES/YOGA: Discover your inner "powerhouse" with this body conditioning class. Improve your total body alignment, flexibility, muscle strength and endurance with low-impact exercises that focus on your breath and core strength. This class is perfect for every fitness level as exercises can be modified in range of difficulty. This class moves through a variety of yoga poses in a balanced and systematic way. Benefits of yoga include heightened body awareness and mind focus, tension release, increased range of motion at the joints and an overall sensation of more balance in life. The session ends with restorative work, which energizes the body through passive stretch techniques.
STEP: is an aerobic exercise that is performed by stepping onto and off of an elevated platform while doing upper body movements. The choreographed moves are done as a moderate- to high-intensity cardiovascular workout.
STRETCH & GO: A short class for stretching. Add it before your workout to help prevent injury, or after your workout to maintain/increase range of motion.
WARM YOGA: A traditional Hatha method class. Slow flow through poses in a heated environment will help sweat out toxins and increase flexibility, strength and balance. All fitness levels welcome. Bring a towel and water for a 45 minute class.
YOGA: This class moves through a variety of yoga poses in a balanced and systematic way. Benefits of yoga include heightened body awareness and mind focus, tension release, increased range of motion at the joints and an overall sensation of more balance in life. The session ends with restorative work, which energizes the body through passive stretch techniques.
YOGA with Weights: Adding weights, this calorie kicking, hybrid yoga class, is sure to sculpt the body and melt the fat away. You’ll be using weights for strength exercises in addition to a yoga sequence.
ZUMBA: Zumba combines Latin and international rhythms into an interval training class which burns fat, reduces stress which tones and sculpts your body. Ditch the workout join the party! All fitness levels.
