Administrative Panel and Student Arbitration Board

Administrative Panel

A University Administrative Panel is typically composed of three Administrative Staff members from the Division of Student Affairs. All are appointed by the Vice President for Student Affairs. One Staff member serves as the Board Coordinator and is responsible for coordinating all efforts and expectations of the Panel.

University Administrative Panel Expectations

Members of the Panel assigned to a hearing are expected to:

  • Participate in orientation sessions
  • Prior to the hearing date, review all information provided in the case file.
  • Convene at the date and time of the hearing.
  • Attend meetings of the Panel
  • Discuss and vote on each case

The Board Coordinator is expected to:

  • Preside at sessions of the Panel
  • Keep a record of attendance of members of the Panel
  • Record the outcomes of the hearing and provide the outcomes to the accused student or student organization and other appropriate parties in a timely fashion

Student Arbitration Board

The University Student Arbitration Board is composed of ten members. One Faculty member appointed by the Vice President for Student Affairs. One Staff member appointed by the Vice President for Student Affairs. The staff appointee serves as the Board Coordinator and is responsible for coordinating all efforts and expectations of the Board.

Both the faculty and staff members serve a two-year term and may be reappointed.

Eight student members are nominated as representatives and confirmed by the Vice President for Student Affairs. They serve a one-year term and may be reappointed as long as they are an undergraduate student in good standing. One student member serves as the Chairperson of the Board and is appointed by the Vice President for Student Affairs. In the event that the Chairperson will be absent from a hearing, the Board Coordinator will appoint a Chairperson pro tem.

Student Representation

  • Two students representing the Student Body (Nominations will come from Student Senate)
  • Two students representing the Residence Halls (Nominations will come from the Director of Residential Life)
  • Two students representing Social Greek Organizations (IFC, Panhel, or NPHC) (Nominations will come from the Director of Student Activities)
  • Two students representing Club Sports (Nominations will come from the Director of Campus Recreation and Athletic Facilities)

University Student Arbitration Board Member Expectations

Removal from the Board

A University Student Arbitration Board member may be removed from the Board by the Board Coordinator for failure to honor participation obligations, ethical concerns, or lack of good standing with the University.
