Biography
Michael Mushinsky is currently employed full time by OSF Health Systems as the Director of Security. Michael is retired from the City of Peoria Police Department after serving for 23 years in various roles including patrol officer, detective, narcotics, swat, eod and command positions. Michael reached the rank of Assistant Chief of Police, retiring in 2020. Michael has taught criminal justice courses and instructed in control tactics and emergency vehicle operations courses for well over a decade at Peoria Police Dept, Illinois Central College, ISP and Bradley University.
Michael has attended several advanced learning institutions earning an Associate’s Degree from Illinois Central College in Criminal Justice, a Bachelors in the Criminology from LSU and a Master’s Degree from Oklahoma State University in Forensic Science. He has also graduated from the Northwestern School of Staff and Command and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Executive Management.
Michael has received numerous awards for his work in the community and Police Department including, 3 Distinguished Police Service Awards, a Police Distinguished Valor Award, Life Saving Award along with several academic achievement awards.
Michael is currently a sworn Police Officer for the Peoria Park District Police Department, keeping his Police certifications current.
