COVID-19 Update

Recent decisions at Bradley University have been made regarding the worldwide Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic with the best interests for the health of our community. We are working around the clock to respond to this historic outbreak. You have received recent messages from the university with a resource guide and instructions to document the transition from brick-and-mortar to online delivery of classes. Bradley University operations will continue. Faculty and staff are to report to work as under regular conditions. Please stay up to date with ALL emails sent to you about COVID-19, as they include new information that is pertinent to you. For more information regarding this unprecedented outbreak, visit bradley.edu/coronavirus. The university will communicate future changes/updates on as many channels as possible.

Sakai Workshops

Today, March 13, in Morgan Hall (Room 108), the Sakai team is hosting a workshop on Sakai, Bongo, Panopto, Zoom, and Google Meet. You are encouraged to attend one of the dozen workshops scheduled for continuity training. Sign-up for one of the workshops here. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to [email protected]. Continuity plans are due no later than March 18 at 5 p.m. to the Provost.

Event Cancelations

Starting Saturday, March 14, any event or meeting that includes more than 25 people will be canceled. This remains in effect through April 13. This decision will be reevaluated daily and the community will be updated of any changes. As a result, events occurring in this timeframe have been removed from the university calendar. They will also no longer be published in B-News. If a press release has been sent out to media from the Office of Public Relations about a specific event that has now been canceled, an updated message will be sent to clarify the event’s new status. If you are an event organizer and you have direct access to notifying your event attendees of cancelations, please do so.

Campus Hours of Operation

Markin Center will close on March 13 at 7 p.m. until further notice. Access to the health center will remain accessible through the east side Markin Center entry. The health center will see patients by appointment only, no walk-ins will be allowed. The food court and P.O.D. in the Student Center will be open 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. March 16 – 20 and will be closed March 21 – 22. Limited hours are TBD starting March 23. Otherwise, the Student Center is closed. The library will operate under limited spring break hours. Hours after that are TBD. Due to the nature of what we are going through, things are changing rapidly, so be sure to check physical buildings for posted hours. We know you have many questions and we are trying to provide answers. We ask for your patience as we navigate this unprecedented situation.

Virtual Medical Attention

If you have Bradley University health insurance, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) offers the ability for members to seek medical attention through a virtual visit. Attached are two virtual visit information sheets with detailed instructions on how to use this feature. A virtual visit can’t treat COVID-19, but a virtual visit can help employees and their families with other illnesses and receive the treatment they need without exposing themselves to the virus by going to the ER or urgent care. As hospitals become more crowded, virtual visits free up healthcare workers to treat those who may be infected with COVID-19.
