CFA Launches Course in Silicon Valley at Cisco

Department of Interactive Media and Department of Communication professor Edward Lamoureux will lead a group of Bradley students during the 2014 interim for IM 491-01: Interactive Media Development at Cisco, in San Jose California, May 18-25, 2014.

The new course will be hosted by two class of 1998 Bradley alums. Christian Grossmann and Susan Monce both majored in Radio and Television within the Department of Communication and were student pioneers in the early MultiMedia Program that became the Department of Interactive Media. Longtime Cisco employees, Monce now serves as convergence lead for Cisco’s digital services and platform team; Grossmann is a senior manager for Cisco operations.

Cisco, founded in 1984, is a global company of 75,000 employees focused on Enterprise, Public Sector, Commercial, and Service Provider customers with annual revenue of $48.6B. Cisco is the largest technology employer in the Silicon Valley. Bradley students will complete a project for Cisco’s Digital Strategy and Enablement (DSE) unit. DSE combines Cisco’s approaches to Intranet, Internet, Social Media, Mobility, and video by planning, deploying, and managing digital platforms globally as well as enabling employees’ use of all available digital technologies.

The weeklong project will be planned and adjusted based on the abilities of the students who enroll in the course. Ideally, enrollment will be distributed evenly across Interactive Media’s three concentrations: Animation and Special Effects, Game Design, and Web and Application Design. Course planners at Bradley and Cisco are developing a project that leverages the specific knowledge and skills of the participating students matched with the business needs of Cisco.
