iBradley Accepting Entries for April 30 Festival

02/18/2011 6:11 PM

Bradley’s Department of Interactive Media is hosting the annual iBradley Media Festival Saturday, April 30 from 5-8 p.m. at the Caterpillar Global Communications Center.

iBradley is a competition that gives full-time high school and college students the opportunity to display their creative works in public. Participants are recognized for their artistic abilities and technical skills in the production of new media works of art.

Scott Cavanah, an IM instructor, coordinates the event with help from Bradley students in the department. The event draws competitors from around the state.

“The festival allows for students to see how their work stacks up against their peers,” Cavanah said. “That includes college and even high school students from across the state. Most students will only compete with those that are in the same classroom. This allows them to see their work in a much larger context.”

Students can submit entries in four categories: film/video, animation, interactive, and digital image. The deadline for submissions in all genres is April 16. The maximum file size for any submission is 200 MB and no entry may be longer than 5 minutes. All work must be submitted online at http://i.bradley.edu.

Awards will be given to the first, second, and third in each of the four categories. The “All Festival Grand Prize” will be given to the artist whose piece shows the greatest level of skill, creative vision, and attention to detail

Cavanah said students will gain a sense of achievement knowing their work stands up next to students their age across the state.

“I think that knowing your work is among the best in the area would be a big shot in the arm for your confidence,” Cavanah said. “It would also look pretty impressive on your resume.”
