 BRADLEY UNIVERSITY THEATRE PRESENTS

THE MUSICAL “SIDE SHOW.”

Daisy and Violet Hilton, conjoined twins whose singing and dancing took them from the tent shows of the Dust Bowl, to Vaudeville stardom and Hollywood fame, are the subjects of SIDE SHOW, the Broadway musical that opens Bradley University Theatre’s 2013-2014 mainstage season at the Hartmann Center for the Performing Arts on the Bradley campus.

With music by Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls) and book and lyrics by Bill Russell, and directed by Bradley Theatre’s Steve Snyder (Putnam Couny Spelling Bee, Suburbia, Ragtime), SIDE SHOW boldly combines dramatic and musical styles to explore the unlikely journey of its two heroines through career, romance and challenges to their bond of loyalty, affirmed in the show’s powerful anthem, “I Will Never Leave You.”  Originally staged on Broadway in 1997, SIDE SHOW starred Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner, who, in a Tony Award first, were co-nominated as a team for Best Actress in a Musical.

SIDE SHOW will run Thursday through Saturdays, September 26-28 and October 3-5 at 8 PM, with Sunday matinees September 29 and October 6 at 2:30 PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $9 for students, and $16 for Bradley faculty and staff. For tickets call 677-2660 or book online at www.theatre.bradley.edu.
