Signed Show of Pinocchio for the Hearing Impaired – November 8th

PEORIA, October 2009 – – – Bradley University Theatre will host a signed performance of PINOCCHIO, created in collaboration with the House Theater of Chicago, on Sunday, November 8th at 2:30 p.m. Martha Mueller, an advanced proficiency level interpreter, will sign the production. We ask that individuals desiring this service to please inform the box office at the time of their ticket purchase.
Continuing a tradition of presenting the most creative theatre in central Illinois, Bradley University Theatre and the House Theatre of Chicago have joined together to create a dynamic new adaptation of the tale of PINOCCHIO. Told with a physical and visual flair that is trademark of the award-winning House Theatre, this contemporary look at the Pinocchio story ventures into the visceral world of life’s persisting questions as it explores the need for family in a chaotic and dangerous world.
Directed by Carolyn Defrin and written by Dennis Watkins, both members of the award winning House Theatre of Chicago, this collaboration funded by the Iben Lectureship brought together faculty and students from Bradley University Theatre with members of the House Theatre for eighteen months to conceptualize, develop and produce this exciting new play.

In the eight years since its inception, The House Theatre of Chicago has become the premier off-loop theatre ensemble for New Work. Founded in typical Chicago theatre style by a bunch of friends who went to college together, it met with startling and almost immediate success.
